If You're a Leader, You'll Love the Huddle

Why Huddles Work

Ask any leader what one of the most effective habits they've learned recently is, and you might hear this: "the huddle." Especially during chaos, remote work, or hybrid shifts, team huddles keep people aligned and connected.

What a Huddle Looks Like

  • Timing: At least twice a week (some do daily)

  • Format: Slack, Zoom, text, in-person, etc.

  • Duration: Max 15 minutes (ours are 5!)

  • Questions:

    • What’s your schedule today?

    • Need any help?

    • Can you offer help?

    • Any questions?

    • Optional: How are you today (1-5)?

Rotate who leads the huddle. The leader ensures everyone shares, no work gets done during the huddle, and follow-ups are assigned.

Try It, Then Tweak It

Not sure it will work for your team? Run a 2-week experiment. Choose your format, assign leaders, test it, and then review:

  • What worked?

  • What didn’t?

  • What would make it better?

Huddles help create rhythm, reduce stress, and foster connection—especially when things get busy.
